🌱🌱🌱 ART WITH A CAUSE 🌱🌱🌱

To offset the carbon footprint of printing the art for this show, a portion of proceeds will be donated to the NJ Nature Conservancy to help protect coastal areas and wildlife in Cape May Co. The paper and inks used are eco-friendly, and no plastic is used in packaging.

Additionally, a portion of proceeds will be donated to the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Tribe, the indigenous stewards of the land now known as Avalon and Stone Harbor. This is an inadequate offering of reparation and a gesture of respect for the land the art is created on.

🌀🌀🌀 MORE ABOUT MY ART🌀🌀🌀

I call my body of art “ILLUSTRATED INTENTIONS”, a system of translating intention into experiential art through meditation, illustration, and large-scale earth art installations. Each piece is born from a heartfelt intention that transmits into the work through my meditation practice while creating it. The resulting art form is a visual mantra, or reminder, of the felt experience of that intention.

I work with mandalas and walking labyrinths, powerful tools for reflection and transformation, to create spaces for contemplation. My signature “MANDALYNTHS” blend these two ancient art forms, offering an immersive art experience and integrated meditation practice as one walks through and around them. They are ephemeral containers for presence, reflection, meditation, and prayer.

Along with a rake and a piece of driftwood, I use my body as a measuring tool and compass to create the geometric grid the patterns emerge from. I rarely plan or know what the end result will look like; I have learned to let the energy of the universe flow through my body as a tool, a channel, for it to express itself.

The dark areas in the photographs are shadow cast by grooves and texture created by the rake and stick. Each piece lasts less than an hour before the tide washes it away. A true practice in impermanence and letting go!

I shoot all of the drone footage myself with a DJI Mini-2. Prints for this show are produced locally in Philadelphia and as sustainably as possible. While the actual installation on the beach is free of charge and a gift to all those who discover it, selling prints of the work supports me, my teaching endeavors, and to continue making new art.

This collection of work is not currently available for sale outside of this show, making each print as rare and unique as the work on the beach!

🌊🌊🌊 DOWN THE SHORE 🌊🌊🌊

I gave birth to this art form at the Jersey Shore in 2017 and have been developing the technique on beaches around the world. Seven Mile Island, in particular, has the perfect conditions to create my art, with its unique combination of sand type, tidal range, and water table, a special blend of factors that only exist in a handful of places worldwide.

This show in Avalon is a celebration not just of the art, but also of this magical land and sea. It is dedicated to the people here who have supported and encouraged me (shout out to the Walsh clan and Amy Sue Smith!), to everyone I have met and connected with on the beach over the years, and to those who have visited the Mandalynths for healing, insight, and peace. I am thrilled to exhibit the printed form of the artwork in its hometown!

Teague draws upon his professional training, with a deep immersion and 25 years of personal practice in the wisdom traditions they originate from, to deliver a platform of personal transformation, stress resiliency, and secular ethics.

On the creative side, Teague received a BA in Art & Design from the College of Design at NC State University, followed by a twenty-year career leading creative teams and processes at Banana Republic as Director of International Creative Services, and then as Creative Director on the Global Marketing Team. Following a calling to be of greater service in the world, Teague stepped away from this career in 2016 to focus full-time on teaching meditation, creating art, and supporting systems of constructive change and healing.

Teague’s offerings bring together the art and science of contemplative practice with creativity. From hospitals to universities to beaches, they are unique, powerful, and approachable paths inward to the inner sovereign and outward to a more conscious and connected way of being. He is passionate about sharing the practices and art forms that he uses in his own life to heal, to navigate life’s challenges, and to savor its joys.

Born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Teague spent many summers down the shore. He has lived in NYC, London, and San Francisco, and visited over 45 countries. Since 2016, he has lived nomadically, free from a home or material belongings. Teague is exploring alternative ways of being and forms of economy that are more equitable and sustainable. He experiments with conscious capitalism, resource-based sharing, and gifting economies with an intention to live lighter on the earth, in connection with community, and for the benefit of as many beings as possible.
